Rotonda is a residential area that comprises a welcome
mix of both residents and rental properties. Conveniently located near
beaches, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping malls/outlets and the sea,
it doesn't matter whether you are a golfer, fisherman, boater, sports
enthusiast, shopaholic, sun-worshipper or just in search of peace and
quiet - this is the place for you.
Rotonda is very tranquil, a place for relaxation built around lakes,
waterways and magnificent golf courses. The area is a wildlife
sanctuary full of cranes, turtles, egrets, butterflies and lots of
beautifully coloured birds to name but a few of the residents. A bobcat
or fox strolling down the golf cart track is no more unusual than an
alligator or two sunning themselves on the banks of the waterways.
There are many activities in the area. Here are just a few:
Fishing - either freshwater or deep sea. And
don't forget, this is the Tarpon fishing capital of the world
Tennis - courts have been built in the centre
of Rotonda and are free to use
Baseball - watch the Charlotte Stone Crabs
at Port Charlotte Stadium or the Tampa Bay Rays in spring
training
Boating - the waterways are full of life and
surprises. Dolphins, rays and manatees, pelicans and birds galore
Nature - this is a reserve so enjoy walking
around. Binoculars and a camera are recommended.
Eating Out - in town of course, but on the
water's edge is always memorable.
Golf - the numerous courses in the area make
this one of the major activities.
The Beach - beautiful beaches where you can swim
or hunt for pretty shells and shark’s teeth. Or just bask in the
sunshine whilst enjoying the sound of the Gulf and the feel of the
waves lapping around your toes.
Sunsets - going down to the beach to watch the
spectacular sunset is a wonderful way to end the day.
For boaters, you might take a trip to secluded Don Pedro
Island where picnic tables and barbecues are available.
Englewood beach, actually three beaches, has been completely reworked
and is a few minutes easy drive away. With picnic and BBQ facilities,
ample parking, restrooms, shaded tables and benches were you can take a
picnic, and casual restaurants and a general store just across the
road, it's a great fun venue.
Boca Grand is just a short car ride away or accessible
by boat. The beaches are fine white sand and stretch for miles. Try a
sunset on the beach at the South Beach bar and restaurant. Sit on the
deck, which is on the beach and sip your cocktail while watching the
sunset. Magic!
There are so many restaurants within easy reach that it
is impossible to list them all, but they ensure that everyone’s tastes
are catered for. Large supermarkets are about 5 minutes drive from any
of the villas and a 24 hour supermarket and a shopping plaza is located
close to the centre of Rotonda. Just to the east is busy Port Charlotte
with its shopping mall (Dillards, Sears, Burdines and JC Penney are
there), as well as hundreds of other stores, restaurants and facilities.
Other local attractions include places such as Boca
Grande with its fine sandy beaches, turquoise sea and the quaint shops,
Fisherman's Village down at Punta Gorda with restaurants and live
entertainment. A little further afield are many places of interest such
as Venice, Naples, Fort Myers, Sarasota (St. Armand’s Circle for great
shopping) and, of course, the Everglades.
Rotonda is easy to reach from the following airports:
Fort Myers - 60 minutes
Miami - 3 hours
Orlando - 2 hours 30 minutes
Sarasota - 45 minutes
Tampa - 90 minutes
